SmartCare Soft-Touch Achieves 18/20 in Interzero “Made for Recycling” Assessment

ADA Cosmetics’ SmartCare Soft-Touch dispenser has achieved 18 out of 20 points in an independent recyclability assessment by circular-economy specialist Interzero. Qualifying dispenser variants can now carry the “Made for Recycling” label in European markets covered by the assessment.

The result provides hotels with independently verified information on the recyclability of one of the most visible amenities in the guest bathroom — supporting more transparent guest communication as well as sustainability and procurement requirements.

Independently assessed for recyclability

Interzero’s “Made for Recycling” methodology evaluates packaging against criteria including material composition, separability and suitability for processing within existing recycling infrastructure.

The assessment takes realistic sorting and recycling conditions into account and is conducted on a country-specific basis.

SmartCare Soft-Touch achieved an overall score of 18 out of 20 points, enabling qualifying dispenser variants to carry the “Made for Recycling” label.

The SmartCare Soft-Touch bottle and cap are made from polypropylene. All fully light-colored variants covered by the assessment — including Hydro Touch, Yon-Ka and The Skinfluencer — together with their front and back labels, are free from carbon-black pigments.

Dark-colored dispensers will gradually transition to near-infrared-detectable colors by Q1 2027, allowing further variants to be brought within the scope of the assessment.

The “Made for Recycling” assessment evaluates the recyclability of the dispenser design. Whether a dispenser is ultimately recycled also depends on local collection, sorting and recycling systems.

Clearer proof for hotels and guests

The “Made for Recycling” label can be displayed directly on qualifying SmartCare dispensers, making the independent assessment visible at the point of use.

For hotels, this provides an additional proof point for sustainability communication and can support relevant criteria in procurement processes and ESG documentation.

Designed for efficient hotel operations

Alongside its recyclability credentials, SmartCare is designed to support hygiene and efficient housekeeping.

Its membrane technology enables clean dosing, helps prevent back contamination and avoids a wear-out effect. The Soft-Touch surface also makes the remaining liquid level easy to see. The system’s hygiene performance has been confirmed by an independent study conducted by the Rhein-Waal Institute in Germany.

For housekeeping teams, SmartCare combines tamper-proof installation with cartridge replacement in around five seconds, helping simplify daily amenity management.

Hotels can further reduce packaging consumption by combining SmartCare with ADA Cosmetics Refillution, the company’s patented hygienic refill system. Depending on the use configuration, the combination can achieve plastic savings of up to 95% compared with small individual portions.*

Refillution is independently certified by TÜV SÜD for compliance with ISO 22716 Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant batch-traceability requirements.

The Interzero assessment adds another independently verified proof point to SmartCare, helping hotels make informed decisions about bathroom amenities based on recyclability, hygiene and operational performance.

SmartCare Soft-Touch dispensers carrying the “Made for Recycling” label are available in the European markets covered by the assessment.
