All of our operations in Germany use 100 % renewable energy, and we have sourced our electricity from hydropower here since 2012. We have implemented multiple energy-saving initiatives across our global production sites, including LED lighting and insulation, and we are are currently striving to convert ing our entire company car fleet to run on renewable energy till 2026.
We innovate with the planet in mind. Just one example: all of our cleansing formulas such as shampoos, shower gels, and liquid soaps are now produced using a state-of-the-art cold process, meaning we do not need to heat tons of water during their production. This saves up to 45 kg of CO2 per ton (depending on the source of energy) of the finished product. Currently, we are working to reduce the energy consumed in the production of our conditioners and body lotions in the same way, and aiming the same way to implement a semi-cold manufacturing process.
We conduct an annual analysis of the carbon footprint of our offices, production sites, and distribution sites, using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) to measure our emissions. In the interests of environmental transparency, we report our GHG emissions and climate strategy to the highly recognized international non-profit organization CDP, whose scoring sheet helps us to continually improve our performance in this area.
